Wins in to top two singles matches weren’t enough as the Oak Harbor High School tennis team lost 5-2 at Stanwood Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Jackson Wezeman (6-4, 6-3) and Rodrigo Columbo (6-3, 6-4) captured No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Wildcats.

Oak Harbor’s Raymond Paraiso (6-1, 6-1) and Calib Byers (6-2, 6-1) fell in the other singles contests.

The Wildcats dropped all three doubles matches: 1, Jared Hunt/Matthew Hallahan lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; 2, Sidney Thomas/Jose Cabigting lost 6-2, 6-2; and Matt Molitor/Aziya Sanders lost 6-1, 6-1.

The Spartans (2-1, 2-4) moved into a tie with Arlington for second in the early Wesco standings; Oak Harbor fell to 2-2 and 3-3.

The Wildcats play Marysville-Pilchuck (1-2, 1-6) at home at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, and then head to division leading Everett (3-0, 5-2) at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29.
