The score in Everett’s 4-0 win over the host Oak Harbor girls soccer team Thursday, Sept. 30, doesn’t tell the whole story.

Wildcat coach Jeff Laiblin called it “the most competitive game in years against Everett.” This came when Oak Harbor was short handed, missing five players.

The Seagulls (4-3, 5-3-1) scored early, then the two clubs “went toe-to-toe” the next 56 minutes, according to Laiblin. Everett then scored two goals in two minutes to pull away.

Laiblin lauded the play of Brighton Pruss (filling in for an injured Millie Goebel), Ashley Everett (for marking and shutting down the league’s top scorer), Annie Leete (for playing a new position) and Kiah Ching (for playing her best game when Oak Harbor needed it most).

Laiblin added, “These are just a few of our top performances.”

Oak Harbor (2-7, 2-8) heads to Shorecrest (5-3, 5-4) Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
