Soccer: Shorecrest quickly clips Wildcats

It took Shorecrest just 40 seconds to score in the Scots' 6-0 win over the Oak Harbor High School boys soccer team in the Wildcats' Wesco 3A and home opener Thursday, March 17.

It took Shorecrest just 40 seconds to score in the Scots’ 6-0 win over the Oak Harbor High School boys soccer team in the Wildcats’ Wesco 3A and home opener Thursday, March 17.

Glenn Paden scored three goals for the winners.

Oak Harbor coach Brian Thompson said, “It was a tough game physically and mentally for our boys. We learned a lot about our game and what we need to work on. We are optimistic and looking forward to this Saturday’s match with Arlington.”

Thompson said the bright spot was the play of goal keeper Tucker Lundstrom who turned back 29 shots from the perennial state-power Scots. He also lauded the play of his youngsters: “My freshmen did a great job.”

Oak Harbor (0-1, 0-2) hosts the Eagles (0-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19.
