Short-handed Wolves fall to Cedarcrest in soccer

A depleted Coupeville girls’ soccer team dropped a 4-0 match at Cedarcrest Thursday.

The Wolves were missing four senior starters because of injuries and illness. Coach Mike Thornton suited up only 13 players for the match.

Thornton said, “The young kids did a good job. They figured out they could play without the seniors.”

The Wolves trailed just 1-0 at the half, but Thornton said, “They ran out of gas.”

Coupeville (2-11, 4-11) finishes out the regular season Saturday at South Whidbey (3-10, 4-11) at 2 p.m.
