Two errors in the top of the seventh inning led to four runs as the Anacortes AA American Legion baseball team scored a come-from-behind 8-6 victory over Oak Harbor Wednesday evening.

Oak Harbor was in the driver’s seat early in the game scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning to stake starting pitcher Danny Lura to a 5-0 lead.

Marcus Naymik, Lura and Ben Wolfe collected three straight hits to open the inning and a perfect squeeze bunt by Zach Hauser made the score 2-0.

Kyle Wilcox drew a walk and Chris Reilly and James Smith followed with back-to-back singles to put the final three runs on the board.

Lura retired the first six Anacortes batters in order, but found trouble in the top of the third inning.

Singles by Corey Knudsen and Ian Mackay, a sacrifice and a throwing error and two more singles by Kyle Macy and John Walker were good for four runs and shaved the margin to 5-4.

Oak Harbor retained its one-run lead until the top of the seventh inning when Anacortes sent eight batters to the plate scoring four runs on three hits, two errors and a hit batter.

Oak Harbor tried to mount a comeback in the bottom half of the inning but managed to score just a single run. Meanwhile, Anacortes pitcher Kyle Dixon retired the final two batters on a called third strike and a foul pop out to the catcher.

Reilly, Naymik and Wolfe had two hits each for Oak Harbor.

Oak Harbor has a 6-3 league record and is in third place in the AA Legion’s North Division.
