Second-half surge lifts Lynnwood past Oak Harbor / Boys basketball

The Lynnwood High School boys basketball team pulled away from visiting Oak Harbor in the second half for a 57-43 win Wednesday, Jan. 8.

The victory was the Royals’ (1-3, 2-8) first conference win; Oak Harbor (0-4, 1-9) remains winless in Wesco play.

The first half was close. The Wildcats led 16-15 after the first quarter, then Lynnwood took a slim 28-27 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats managed to score only 16 points after the break.

The Royals outscored Oak Harbor 14-8 in the third period, going up 42-35 heading into the fourth quarter, where they secured the win by outscoring the Wildcats 15-8.

Matt Kelley paced Oak Harbor with 16 points, Gage McLeod had 11, Garrett Levell 6, Will Rankin 4, Mason Myers 4 and Kaito White 2.

The Royals produced three double-digit scorers, led by Josh Siscar with 16.

Oak Harbor goes to Cedarcrest (2-1, 5-4) at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10.
