Sail and Power Squadron offers free children’s class / Boating safety

The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron is offering a free boating safety class for children ages 5 to 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club.

The topics include how to select, adjust and wear a life jacket; how to tie knots, including cleat hitch, clove hitch and bowline; how to rescue grandpa if he falls overboard; how to use a throw bag; boat sinking drill; and small boat safety.
