Royals run by Wildcats / Girls basketball

The Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team fell behind early and couldn’t recover in a 65-45 loss at Lynnwood Friday, Dec. 21.

The Royals jumped to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter and upped the spread to 36-14 at halftime.

Oak Harbor held its own in the second half, outscoring Lynnwood 31-29, but couldn’t make up the large deficit.

Anna Jones scored a career-high 12 points for the Wildcats. Jasmine Ford had 11, Miranda Wilson 6, Emily Gouge 5, Payton Parks 5, Olivia Waite 4 and Mikhaela Cortez 2.

Amayah Kirkman poured in 24 for the Royals (3-1, 5-3).

Oak Harbor (0-4, 2-6) plays a pair of non-league games before returning to Wesco action.

The Wildcats go to Mount Vernon (2-6) at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, and play Cascade (0-9) at home at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28.
