Rodeheffer 12th in state 1,600 | Track

Oak Harbor High School’s John Rodeheffer placed 12th in the 1,600 meters during the opening day of the state 3A track meet at Tacoma’s Mount Tahoma High School Thursday, May 29.

The meet continues Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31.

Rodeheffer finished one place lower than last year but ran the race nearly three seconds faster in 4:24.63.

Joe Hardy of Seattle Prep won the 1,600 in 4:07.73.

Also Thursday, the Oak Harbor boys 4×400 relay team of Dejon Devroe, Josiah Welch, Sebastian Ceaser and Carlton Johnson finished 14th in 3:31.5 in the preliminaries and did not qualify for the finals.

Devroe will run in the preliminaries of the 400 meters Friday; the finals are Saturday.

Rodeheffer will take part in the boys 3,200 finals Saturday. Also Saturday, Wildcat Alex Laiblin runs in the girls 3,200 finals.
