The marksmanship team placed second in the Western Regional Tournament of the Secretary of the Navy Air Rifle Championships in Phoenix Feb. 20 and 21.

The orienteering team, fresh off a ninth-place effort in the Navy national championships, captured the Washington Interscholastic Orienteering title at Camp River Ranch in Carnation Saturday, Feb. 21.

The Oak Harbor rifle team, coached by Dave Goodman, competed in one of three regional meets, and the Wildcats’ score in Phoenix was seventh among all NJROTC teams from across the United States.

Senior Colton Baumgardner placed second individually at the Western Regional and fourth nationally.

In orienteering, the Oak Harbor junior varsity also won its division in the state finals.

Based on results from the seven matches, the two Oak Harbor orienteering teams, coached by Marc deLeuze, also finished first in the WIOL regular-season standings.

Wildcat junior Caleb Peek earned the regular-season individual title and placed fourth at the state varsity finals. He will compete in the national championship meet next month in Pennsylvania.
