Wildcat boys team advances to 4A state tournament

The par-72 course at the Gallery Golf and Country Club was beneficial to the Oak Harbor boys team in the final round of the WesCo District tournament May 11, and the Wildcats will be advancing to state competition May 22 and 23 at Bellingham as the district’s number four team.

Oak Harbor’s Phil Reedy defeated Taylor Brown from Snohomish on the first hole of a sudden death playoff and was crowned district

champion.

Reedy and Brown finished the two day, 36-hole tournament with identical 146 scores, but Reedy birdied the first playoff hole while Brown carded a par.

Eric McCardle also fired two fine rounds of golf for the Wildcats scoring 153 to finish eighth.

Snohomish was the overall team winner, with Kamiak second and Jackson third.

On the girls side, Oak Harbor will have two golfers competing in the state tournament May 22 and 23 at Avalon. Anndria Sutter shot a 36-hole score of 176 to finish eighth and Brittany Loveng shot 190 to place 14th.

Kamiak, Snohomish, Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds-Woodway were the number one through four teams advancing to the state tournament.
