Wildcats trounce Wolves 76-31

Visiting Archbishop Murphy High School scored 31 first-quarter points in Friday’s Cascade Conference basketball game against Coupeville and that point total was nearly enough for a victory.

The undefeated Wildcats put 14 additional points on the board in the second quarter and kept up the scoring onslaught in the second half, to roll to their 10th conference victory defeating the Wolves 76-31.

Coupeville, 0-12, 3-16, was held to single-digit scoring for the first three quarters of the game against the experienced Archbishop Murphy squad.

Kassie Lawson and Megan Smith tied for high-scoring honors for the Wolf Pack, hitting for 11 points each.

The Wildcats had four players score in double figures, paced by Megan Carlson and Alyssa Smith, who scored a dozen points apiece.

Coupeville tripped by Wildcats

Cody Peters scored a game-high 25 points and teammate Hunter Hammer had 13, but it wasn’t enough to offset four Archbishop Murphy players in double figures as the Wildcats slipped past the Wolves 63-59 in a Friday Cascade Conference basketball matchup.

The Wolves held a 33-30 halftime advantage, but an eight point third quarter spelled disaster against the league-leading Wildcats, 10-0, 12-3 overall.

Archbishop Murphy put up 15 points in the period and that proved to be the difference in the game as both teams scored 18 points in the final eight minutes of the contest.

J.J. Quinlin and Paris Felder led the Wildcats scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively.
