Parks win WGC Couples Tournament

The cooperative effort of Jenny and Howard Park carried the pair to the 2014 Couples Chapman Tournament title at the Whidbey Golf Club Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23 and 24.

The Parks strolled to a seven-stroke win, posting a 144. Ocki Dureau and Marv Seelye nabbed second in Flight 1 gross scoring with a 151.

Carol and Mike Ryan shot a 125 to take the Flight 1 net title.

Diane and Roger Pierce carded a 164, the best gross score in Flight 2, while Monique Franssen and John Geragotelis were the Flight 2 net winners with a 124.

In the Chapman format, each player tees off and then the partners play each other’s second shot. The pair takes the best ball from that point, alternating shots.
