The Coupeville High School tennis team dropped its season opener 5-2 to visiting Port Angeles Monday, March 12.

The Wolves’ wins came in first and second doubles. Payton Aparicio and Sage Renninger collected a 6-0, 6-3 win, while Avalon Renninger and Tia Wurzrainer won 6-2, 6-1.

In other doubles action, Claire Mietus and Maggie Crimmins lost 6-2, 6-2; and Jillian Mayne and Zara Bradley lost 6-0, 5-3.

In singles play, Genna Wright lost 6-0, 6-1; Heather Nastali lost 6-1, 6-0; and Nanci Melendrez lost 6-0, 6-0.

Coupeville plays at South Whidbey at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13.
