Oak Harbor High School graduates Josh Jepsen and Jarik Bainco recently completed collegiate swim seasons.

Jepsen, a sophomore at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (King’s Point, N.Y.), helped the Mariners capture their eighth-straight league title at the eight-team Landmark Conference meet Feb. 15.

He swam on the first-place 400-meter freestyle relay team and the third-place 800 free relay team. In individual events, he was third in the 200 butterfly and fourth in both the 200 and 400 individual medleys.

The USMMA was fourth in the 17-team Metropolitan Collegiate championships Feb. 22. Jepsen was third in the 400 and 800 free relays and sixth in the 200 free relay.

He also placed 10th in the 200 fly, 14th in the 100 fly and 18th in the 200 IM.

His best performance during the regular season came in a meet with Old Westbury and York Jan. 4 when he won the 200 freestyle and 200 free relay.

Bainco swam for the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma) and picked up several firsts in relays. He teamed up to win the 400 medley relay against Pacific Nov. 7 and Linfield Nov. 15.

Individually, he placed second three times: in the 200 fly against Lewis and Clark Nov. 8, in the 100 breaststroke against Willamette Nov. 14 and in the 200 breaststroke against Linfield Nov. 15.
