OH tennis team drops second straight 1-point match

The Oak Harbor tennis team suffered its second straight one -point loss, falling at Snohomish 4-3 Friday.

The Wildcats lost to Cascade 4-3 Wednesday as they are battling to get back into the win column.

Friday, Oak Harbor, now 1-7 on the season, gave the Panthers, who are 5-3 for the year, all they could handle. The Wildcats dominated singles play, winning three of the four matches, but dropped all three doubles contests.

Derek Thomas was a winner in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2. Josh Evans won 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, in second singles. Max O’Dell took fourth singles 6-4, 6-4.

The Wildcats failed to win a set in doubles play.

Coach Horace Mells said, “This was another close match that did not go our way. All the players are showing improvement and hopefully we’ll have better results during the second round of play.”
