Offensive woes and losses continue for Coupeville / Baseball

The Coupeville High School baseball team has struggled to generate much offense, and as a result generate wins, this season. The trend continued Monday, March 25, when the Wolves lost 7-1 to visiting Chimacum in a non-league game.

Coupeville, which scored more than one run in a game only once this season, saw its record fall to 0-6.

The Wolves will try to put a check in the win column when they face University Prep for a 7 p.m. game Wednesday, March 27, at Shorecrest High School in another non-leaguer.

Coupeville collected only one hit — an infield single by Matt Hilborn in the fifth inning — in the loss to Chimacum (4-3).

The Wolves scored their one run in the first when Hilborn walked, moved to second on Hawthorne Wolfe’s bunt and raced home on a throwing error.

Coupeville did receive six walks but failed to take advantage with timely hits.
