Oak Harbor’s season comes to an end at district meet / Swim and dive

The Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team completed its season at the district meet Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Snohomish Aquatic Center.

The Wildcats placed 11th in the 13-team meet with 55 points. Snohomish edged Shorecrest 470-466 for the title. The Panthers and Scots dominated the meet, finishing nearly 200 points ahead of third-place Shorewood (275).

The top 16 in each event earned team points; the top three qualified for the state meet.

Oak Harbor’s best finish came in the 400-yard free relay where Grace Chargualaf, Frances Empinado, Diandra Dominguez and Cailtin Dennen placed seventh in 4:20.45.

The four also took ninth in the 200 medley relay (2:10).

Snohomish won the 400 free relay (3:41.55), and Shorecrest captured the medley relay (1:52.4).

Chargualaf added a ninth in the 100 butterfly (1:09.35), won by Shorecrest’s Paige Moss (59.11).

Dennen finished 13th in the 100 backstroke (1:08.61) behind winner Marina Or of Shorecrest (1:00.03).
