Coach Bill Young called it a “Tale of Two Games” as his Oak Harbor Babe Ruth baseball team split a pair of six-inning games with visiting Concrete Saturday, May 4.

Oak Harbor scored all its runs over the final three innings to win the opener 11-1, then Concrete used a 12-run sixth inning to roll to a 17-3 win in the second game.

In the first contest, Oak Harbor scored six runs in the fourth inning to more than erase a 1-0 Concrete lead. Base hits by Dylan Bailey and Paul Southerland and two-run singles by Cory Roberts and Chris Levy highlighted the inning.

Levy stroked another two-run single in the fifth, and hits by Bailey, Southerland and Austin Hauter helped score three in the sixth.

Trent Benson and Southerland combined to pitch a five-hitter, strike out seven and walk only two.

In the second game, Oak Harbor took an early lead when Trent Benson walked and eventually scored on a past ball in the first inning.

After Concrete scored three in the second, Oak Harbor countered with two on two walks and an error to tie the game in the third.

Concreted added single runs in the fourth and fifth and then exploded for its 12-run sixth with help of five hits and six errors.

Southerland and Robert Herring collected Oak Harbor’s only hits.

After committing no errors in game one, Oak Harbor had 10 in the second.

Oak Harbor (2-2) hosts Sedro-Woolley at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7.
