Oak Harbor Wildcat sailing team racks up wins against Bellingham, Sehome

The Oak Harbor Wildcats sailing team continued its perfect season this past weekend.

The Oak Harbor Wildcats sailing team continued its perfect season this past weekend with a 2-0 sweep of the Sehome Mariners.

Light, flukey winds on Saturday were the story all day, shortening the scheduled best-of-five series to just two races.

Wildcat sailors Thomas Buys, Andrew Buys, Ben Servatius, Anna Servatius, Allison Bailey and Liam Chapman took the water for the Wildcats this weekend.

The prior weekend, the Oak Harbor High School team hosted its first regatta of the season, sweeping the Bellingham Red Raiders, 3-0.

All three race victories came via a 1-2-3 finish.

The team also won two unofficial scrimmages, both wins for Oak Harbor as well.

Senior Andrew Buys and junior Thomas Buys led the way, finishing first in all three official races.

Juniors Ben Servatius and his crew Chapman were solid in two races before handing the boat off to his sister Anna Servatius and her crew, Bailey, to finish things off in race 3.

Ryan Metz and EJ Boilek were fast all day, recovering from an early penalty to finish third in race one.

Shelby Lang and Colin Byler also saw time on the water in the two scrimmages.
