The Oak Harbor High School tennis team won its second straight 4-3 match to open the season, defeating visiting Burlington-Edison Thursday, March 20.

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team won its second straight 4-3 match to open the season, defeating visiting Burlington-Edison Thursday, March 20.

The Wildcats used a 3-1 edge in singles to take the match.

McKenzie Perry (first singles, 6-4, 6-4), Jamie Estrella (third singles, 7-5, 6-0) and Faith Franssen (fourth singles, 6-2, 6-1) collected wins in singles for the Wildcats.

AnnaBelle Whitefoot and Hannah Guth grabbed the fourth team point with a 6-2, 6-0 win in third doubles.

Oak Harbor fell in second singles (Zena Husler, 7-5, 6-4), first doubles (Chelsea Admire/Alyssa Eden, 6-1, 6-3) and second doubles (Caterina Amsler/Ellysa Bonganay, 6-3, 7-5).

The Wildcats travel to South Whidbey at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, and then begin conference action at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Marysville Getchell.
