Oak Harbor takes 9th in 2 relays at district / Swim and dive

Two ninth-place finishes in relays were the top performances by Oak Harbor High School at the district swim and dive finals Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Snohomish Aquatic Center.

Francis Empinado, Diandra Dominguez, Grace Chargualaf and Caitlin Dennen placed ninth in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:11.65. Shorecrest won the event in 1:50.97.

Chargualaf, Empinado, Casey Cabigting and Dennen nabbed ninth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:22.36. Snohomish won in 3:41.25.

Oak Harbor was 11th in the 200 free relay, as Elena Lorci, Kyoka Harada, Mekayla VonGrey and Lindsey Griffith clocked a 2:15.79. Shorecrest claimed first in 1:41.06.

Dennen was the only Wildcat to qualify for the finals in an individual event, taking 15th the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.93. Snohomish’s Kendall Benson took first in 57.09.

As a team, the Wildcats finished 13th in the 13-team meet with 50 points. Shorecrest won the district crown with 471.

100 back: 19, Empinado, 1:13.23.

100 breast: 21, Dominguez, 1:24.73.
