Oak Harbor snags first win / Swim and dive

The Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team picked up its first win of the season when it split a double-dual meet at Lake Stevens Thursday, Jan. 4.

The Wildcats topped Everett 94-83 but lost to the host Vikings 141-43. Lake Stevens beat Everett 138-42.

Lake Stevens dominated the meet, posting the best mark in 11 of the 12 events and finishing second in nine others. Everett nabbed the other first.

Oak Harbor’s best finish came in the 200-yard medley relay. Matt Kolden, Lawrence Zapanta, Micah Franklin and Rylan Quiros took second in 1:59.54.

Capturing third places for the Wildcats were Franklin (100 butterfly, 1:06.23), Aaron Martinez (100 freestyle, 1:01.57) and Kyto Morrow (diving, 114.25).

Oak Harbor (1-5) hosts Mount Vernon (1-1-1) in its second and final home meet of the season at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8.
