The Oak Harbor Babe Ruth baseball team flipped the script on Coupeville, beating the Wolves 8-2 Thursday at Clover Valley Park.
Coupeville defeated Oak Harbor by the same score Tuesday when it talllied five runs in the second inning to take control early. George Dailey took care of the Wildcat hitters with a one-hitter and provided a big hit, a double, in the second inning.
Thursday, Oak Harbor had its own early five-run inning, the first, and its own strong pitching performance, a four-hitter by Gage McLeod. McLeod added a two-run base hit in the five-run first.
Kyto Morrow slugged a two-run double in the first, and Brock Boyer had an RBI single.
Oak Harbor tacked on two more runs in the second inning on a double by McLeod.
The Wildcats’ final run came in the third when Boyer walked and scored on Cody Duchnowski’s single.
Coupeville scored single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Matt Hilborn walked and scored on an error in the sixth, and Chelsea Prescott doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.
McLeod finished with two hits and four RBI, and Kaito White, John Blankman, Morrow, Will Rankin, Boyer and Duchnowski had one hit each.
Caleb Meyer and Prescott both doubled for Coupeville; Ulrik Wells and Xavier Murdy singled.
Oak Harbor (3-6-1) plays at Sedro-Woolley (13s) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, and then hosts the Outlaws at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Coupeville (4-6) hosts Sedro-Woolley (14s) at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3.
