The Oak Harbor Youth Football League’s Pee Wee Lynx were the only Oak Harbor team to make the championship game this year and the young men took full advantage of the opportunity.

The OHYFL midget and junior teams went down to defeat in the first round of the playoffs, but the Lynx players and coaches would have none of that.

The team finished the regular season with an outstanding 6-1 record, earning them a first-place birth and home field advantage heading into the playoffs.

During the regular season the team slowly came together and as they headed into the playoffs, they really hit their stride both offensively and defensively.

In the first two rounds of the playoffs, they cruised to victory eliminating teams from Arlington and Burlington.

On a rainy Sunday morning Nov. 9 on the turf field at Mount Vernon High School, the Lynx played some of their toughest football yet, scoring early in the first quarter and never they looked back.

As the offense rolled, their stingy defense stuffed the Anacortes Seahawks on every drive to ensure the 25-0 victory and bring the North Cascade Youth Football League’s Superbowl trophy home to Oak Harbor.
