The Oak Harbor High School soccer team dropped out of a first-place tie in the Wesco North standings with a 3-0 loss to visiting Shorewood Monday, April 21.

The loss was the Wildcats’ third straight, while Shorewood (6-1-1, 7-2-2) moved into a first-place tie in the Wesco South with its fourth straight win.

The Thunderbirds scored just before halftime to go up 1-0 although Oak Harbor controlled the ball most of the half, according to coach Brian Thompson.

Shorewood then added two more goals in the second half to earn a share of the South lead after Glacier Peak was upset by Stanwood 2-1 Monday.

Stanwood (4-4, 5-5-1) now leads the North, followed by Oak Harbor (3-5, 5-5-1) and Marysville-Pilchuck (3-5, 3-8).

The Wildcats played without injured starters Gavin Stewart and Andrew Mitchell. Thompson hopes the pair will be back when Oak Harbor (3-5, 5-5-1) hosts Marysville Getchell (1-6-1, 2-8-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25.
