Stanwood clinched first place in the Wesco 3A North soccer standings by defeating visiting Oak Harbor 3-1 Friday, April 26.
Oak Harbor (4-6-1, 5-8-1) dropped into a third-place tie with Marysville-Pilchuck (4-6-1, 5-7-2). The two are one game behind Marysville Getchell (5-5-1, 5-8-1) with two matches left as the teams scramble for the best seeds heading into the post season.
Stanwood, leading 1-0, put the game away by scoring two goals within seconds of each other early in the second half.
Daniel Ross helped avert the shutout with a last-second goal for the Wildcats.
Oak Harbor closes out the regular season with a match at Meadowdale (4-7, 4-9-1) at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, and then at home with Marysville-Pilchuck at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
District play starts Saturday, May 4.
