The Oak Harbor High School girls golf team began the 2017 regular season with its annual Whidbey Shootout, finishing 13th out of 18 schools Tuesday, March 21, at the Whidbey Golf Club.
Each school entered five golfers, and the top four scores were used to determine the team totals.
Mercer Island easily won the Shootout with 339 strokes, 28 in front of Kamiak. Oak Harbor finished with 481.
Jac Longstreth of Shorecrest earned medalist honors in the field of 82 with an eight-over 81.
Makayln Miller topped the Wildcats by placing 39th with a 118. Jessica Monaghan took 47th (118), Dana Cornejo 57th (122), Avery Roberts 62nd (127) and Beth Paul 67th (132).
“(It) went well for our first 18-hole match,” Oak Harbor coach Andy Wesley said.
Oak Harbor joins host Glacier Peak and Meadowdale at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Snohomish’s Kenwanda Golf Course.
