The Oak Harbor High School softball team finished a stretch of playing the Western Conference’s top two teams in two days Friday, May 1, losing to visiting North leader Everett 12-0 in five innings.

The previous day they fell to the South’s top team, Meadowdale, 10-0.

“Everett’s in first place for a reason,” Oak Harbor coach Todd Showalter said.

Showalter praised the Seagull (13-0, 15-1) offense, which tallied 12 runs even though Oak Harbor committed only one error.

“They slap the ball, putting it in play and kind of wear you out.”

Showalter liked the play of his outfielders, who cut down balls in the gaps to limit the number of extra-base hits by Everett.

Elizabeth Adams and Kelly Findley picked up Oak Harbor’s only hits.

The Wildcats (1-12, 1-15) go to Stanwood (6-7, 7-9) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, and then face Arlington (6-7, 7-9) at home at 4 p.m. Friday, May 8.
