The North Whidbey Little League 10/11 all-star team got revenge and then some by walloping Sedro-Woolley 15-1 in five innings Thursday, June 7, in the District 11 Baseball Tournament at Rhododendron Park.

The win avenged a 6-3 loss in extra innings to Sedro-Woolley two days earlier and sent North Whidbey into the championship series with Anacortes. North Whidbey will need to defeat Anacortes twice to earn the state berth. The teams meet at 6 p.m. Friday, June 8, and, if necessary, at noon Saturday at Rhododendron Park.

North Whidbey wasted little time in putting away Sedro-Woolley, piling up six first-inning runs.

With one out, Alex Jenkins doubled, Taryn Hardy walked and Daniel Doughty was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Walks to Holden Jesus and Christian Gisvold forced in two runs, then Parker Anderson hit a bases-clearing double to make it 5-0. Anderson later scored on an error.

North Whidbey added a run in the third inning when Anderson walked and scored after singles by Jacob Figarelle and Jenkins.

North Whidbey cemented the win with eight runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Singles by Figarelle, Jenkins and Hardy, walks to Doughty and Gisvold and an error off the bat of Nathaniel Moore led to four runs. Anderson followed with another double, driving the ball over the center fielder’s head for two more runs.

Nathaniel DiPinto doubled in Anderson and scored himself on a wild pitch.

While the offense was pounding Sedro-Woolley, North Whidbey pitcher Hardy limited S-W to three hits, striking out seven and walking none.

Connor Cox homered in the fourth inning for Sedro-Woolley’s lone run.

Anderson finished the game with two doubles, three runs and five RBI. Jenkins and Figarelle also had two hits, while Jackson Wesley, Hardy, Jesus, Gisvold and DiPinto added hits.
