“The strength of Coupeville’s senior class was recognized when the Northwest A All-League Football Team was announced this week.Seniors Tony Marti, Rich Wilson and Chris Olson were all named to the first team — the hard-hitting Marti as a linebacker, the always-tough Wilson as a running back and the sure-legged Olson as both a kicker and punter. Marti was also selected to the second team as a tight end, and Wilson was picked as a second team linebacker. Those three had plenty of Wolves company, too, as a pack of Coupeville players received honors.Senior Mike Meyer received dual second team honors for his play on both the offensive and defensive line. Senior Josh Smith was named to the second team as an offensive lineman, and received honorable mention for his play on the defensive line.Senior Jason Joiner’s offensive skills were recognized with his selection as an honorable mention running back. Junior quarterback Noah Roehl, in his first year as a starter, grabbed second team honors for his play at that position. He also received honorable mention as a linebacker.Caden Russell and Zac Swankie also earned honorable mention — Russell for both offense and defense as a guard and a linebacker, and Swankie as a defensive end.In other honors, Marti, Meyer and Wilson are among 10 Northwest A League players invited to play in the A/B East West All State Game later this year.NORTHWEST A LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAMOFFENSEFirst TeamQB: Cory Harrington, Jr., Orcas.
