In an effort to get Naval Hospital Oak Harbor TRICARE Prime beneficiaries ready for the 2009/2010 school year, the hospital is sponsoring two school-sports physical rodeos.
Both events will take place at the Naval Hospital. The first is from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, and the second from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13.
LCDR Rhonda Bowens, MC, department head of the Family Medical Clinic, said she wants to make the event a fun and educational activity for school-aged children.
Just a few of the scheduled activities include carnival booths, food, movies, face painting and balloon art.
A “passport” will be issued to each child upon arrival. This will enable the patient to select the station with the shortest line to complete their physical and get their passport stamped.
Once all sections of the passport are stamped, the school-sports physical will be signed off by a provider.
Activities targeted at elementary school children are from noon to 1 p.m. on July 25 and from 3 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 13. Middle school student activities are from 1 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 5 p.m., and high school student activities from 3 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 6 p.m..
For adults, Health Promotions and a TRICARE Regional representative will be on site to answer health-care questions or concerns. Beneficiaries will be asked for feedback on the event so as to improve this event for years to come.
