Another meet resulted in another strong showing by the North Whidbey Aquatic Club at the Kamiak Age Group Invitational Nov. 20 and 21 at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo.

Kenny Morrow, swimming in his first meet as an 11-year-old, earned NWAC Swimmer of the Meet honors for making new Pacific Northwest Swimming Championships (PNS) cuts in all six of his individual swims as well as leading off the boys 11-12 200 medley relay.

His strongest swims were in the backstrokes, where he went 35.17, 1:15.02 and 2:43.49, respectively for the 50-, 100- and 200-yard distances.

Other highlights included Ethan Tack’s winning the boys 9-10 high point award while setting five team records, including the shattering of his own 100 back record by almost four seconds with a 1:09.06. He also broke 14-year-old records in the 50 (31.08) and 100 (1:10.18) fly.

Seven athletes recorded 100 percent individual personal records (PR’s): Taliah Black, Jerrin Concepcion, Ryan Cuajunco, Julia Krishtal, Morrow, Jillian Pape and Tack.

The NWAC received 100 percent relay PR’s from 19: Jarik Bainco, Black, Cuajunco, Ciara Hu, Angela Johnson, Michael Johnson, Julia Krishtal, Mary Catherine Middleton, Marissa Morris, Morrow, Tori Nickerson, Pape, Ella Schroeder, Emily Schroeder, Hannah Schroeder, Tack, Brett Vagt, Nicole Vogt and Cole Weinstein.

New PNS cuts came from Bainco, Black, Cuajunco, Joey Jepsen, Michael Johnson, Middleton, Morris, Morrow, Pape, Ella Schroeder and Weinstein.

Three, Black, Kelly Huffer and Weinstein, swam to new Age Group Sectional cuts, while two others, Emily Huffer and Olivia Tungate, met new Western Zone Championship cuts.

Ciara Hu, Kelly Huffer, Price Hu, Tack and Tungate combined for 11 event wins.

Cuajunco was inducted into the One Minute Club (57.95).

The Aquajets finished third out of 11 teams with 364 points. They trailed West Coast Aquatics out of Bothell (551) and Bainbridge Island (398).

NWAC next competes Dec. 4 and 5 at the Kamiak Divisional Championships, where it will field a team of 26 athletes.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college. Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.

New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
