Morris, Harris lead Wildcats in Wesco honors

The Western Conference announced its fall all-league honors this week, and Oak Harbor High School seniors Marissa Morris and Dyllan Harris added several more awards to their already impressive piles.

The Western Conference announced its fall all-league honors this week, and Oak Harbor High School seniors Marissa Morris and Dyllan Harris added several more awards to their already impressive piles.

Thirty-four other Wildcat athletes received Wesco honors, including 14 first-teamers.

The volleyball all-league team was a combination of all 13 3A Western Conference schools; the other sports’ all-star teams were divided by the North and South divisions.

Tennis and swimming awarded only first-team honors; the others listed second-team and honorable mention athletes.

Morris completed her Wildcat swimming career by earning first-team honors all four years. This fall she added the 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay (with seniors Mariel Empinado and Sydney Dickinson and sophomore Baelee Whitinger) to bring her career total to 10.

Also on the swim first team this year was sophomore Jillian Pape in the 50 free.

Harris earned his third consecutive first-team football spot as a defensive back and his second straight on offense after being a second-team choice as a sophomore.

The Oak Harbor football team collected the most awards.

Junior Sam Zook was first-team on both the offensive and defensive lines, and senior lineman Kevin Reyes and senior linebackers Michael Corfman and Quinn Karney joined him on the first-team defense.

Junior running back Princeton Lollar, who was second team last year, was a first-team offensive choice along with Harris and Zook.

Senior defensive back Savion Hollins-Passmore and junior lineman DeAndre Bellamy received second-team honors.

On the honorable mention list were seniors Zoren Yabao and Diangelo McKinney, junior John Purcell and sophomore Weston Whitefoot.

Senior volleyball player Claire Anderson was a repeat first-team selection after earning honorable mention as a sophomore. Seniors Janae Payne and Priya Osborne (for the second time) and sophomore Hailee Blau received honorable mention this fall.

Junior Jackson Wezeman earned his second straight first-team honor in tennis singles. Junior singles player Rodrigo Colombo was also a first-team choice along with the senior doubles duo of Raymond Paraiso and Calib Byers.

In cross country, freshman Alexis Smith was the lone Wildcat first-teamer.

Junior Laura Rodeheffer was honored for the third consecutive year, earning second team this year after receiving first team as a sophomore and second team as a freshman.

Junior Carolynn Wicker was a repeat second-team choice and junior Emma Lerch was second team this fall and honorable mention last year. Sophomore Olivia Flack received honorable mention; she was a second-teamer in 2014.

On the boys side, junior Miguel Guzman was second team for the second time. Jake Hucko joined him on the second team, and Michael Lym was honorable mention.

In soccer, senior defender Suzanne Kaltenbach was second team, senior defender Alyssa Cross honorable mention and sophomore midfielder Caylie Etherington honorable mention, all repeating their honors from last year. Junior goalkeeper Ebony Campbell was also honorable mention.
