M-P uses OH errors to scoot by the Wildcats / Baseball

Marysville-Pilchuck used mistakes by the Oak Harbor High School baseball team to defeat the visiting Wildcats 8-3 Friday, March 15, in the Wesco opener for both clubs.

The Tomahawks, who had eight hits in the game, scored their 8 runs over two innings on only four hits thanks to Oak Harbor errors and walks. M-P (1-0, 1-1) scored three times in the second inning and five times in the fourth. Only four of its eights runs were earned.

Austin Boesch, the Wildcats’ starting pitcher, led the Oak Harbor offense with two hits and two runs. Caleb Fitzgerald also had two singles.

Donny Kloewer singled in a run, and Noah Meffert and Aiden McCarthy added base hits. Thomas Anderson drove in a run.

Three Marysville-Pilchuck pitchers combined to strike out 10 Wildcats.

Ethan Pace pitched the final two and a third innings for Oak Harbor, striking out four and allowing just one hit and no runs.

The Wildcats (0-1, 1-1) play a non-league game at Ferndale (2-0) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.
