Trailing 17-6 in the third quarter, the West team rode the right arm of Oak Harbor quarterback Marshall Lobbestael and a strong defensive effort to a come-from-behind 27-17 victory in the annual East-West All-Star football game at Everett Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Headed for Washington State University on a full-ride football scholarship, Lobbestael, the Class 4A player of the year, was an impressive 13-for-18 passing good for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

On defense the West created seven turnovers, including five pass interceptions, that played key roles in the victory.

In the third quarter, Lobbestael hooked up with Eric Greenwood from Edmonds-Woodway on a 90-yard scoring strike and on the next series of downs, Nate Williams from Kennedy High School returned an intercepted pass 40 yards for a touchdown to put the West team in front to stay.

The West team scored 21 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters and kept the East team off the board for the final 17:58 of the game.

The East took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 19-yard run by Micah Lape from Skyview before Lobbestael connected with Greenwood in the second period on a 7-yard pass. The point after attempt was blocked.

Greenwood, who will play college football at the University of Idaho, caught six passes for 130 yards.

Lape scored his second touchdown of the game in the second period to give the East team a 14-6 halftime advantage. He was the leading rusher in the game with 13 carries good for 88 yards and was named the most valuable offensive player.

Williams was voted the most valuable defensive player, finishing the game with eight tackles and a pair of interceptions.
