Little League teams head into postseason play

The second season begins this weekend for North and Central Whidbey Little League all-star teams as they head into District 11 tournament action, fighting for a spot in their respective state tournaments.

The Oak Harbor and Coupeville Babe Ruth baseball teams are also getting ready to enter postseason play.

The state 11/12 tournament kicks off Saturday, July 15, in Federal Way.

Junior Baseball

North Whidbey Junior baseball coach Pete Guzman said last week that details of the district tournament had not been finalized. He added that there may be no other teams from District 11 interested in playing in district. In that case, North Whidbey would advance directly to the state tournament Saturday, July 15, in Shoreline.

Babe Ruth

Oak Harbor (13-year-olds) and Coupeville (14) will compete in their respective Babe Ruth baseball tournaments the week of June 26. Details on the tournaments were not available at press time.
