Leete, Fields in 5th place after 1st day | state golf

Oak Harbor’s Mac Kerfoot is in a six-way tie for 27th in the 3A boys tournament at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield. Spencer Tibbits of Fort Vancouver leads the field with a 70.

Leete’s teammate, Bree Roderos, shot a 95 and failed to make the cut for day two by one stroke. She finished in a tie for 42nd.

Leete fired an 82 in the girls 3A finals at the Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland. Sierra Bezkicek of Mount Spokane leads with a 72.

Fields, playing in the 1A girls tournament at the Spanaway Lake Golf Course, carded an 84. Bree Wandersheid of Goldendale is in first with a 76.

All four local golfers qualified for state last spring. Leete placed ninth, Fields 15th, Kerfoot 46th and Roderos 52nd.

The second and final round of this year’s state tournaments is Thursday, May 29.
