Late win lifts Everett past Oak Harbor / Swim and dive

Everett won the final event to slip by the Oak Harbor High School swim team 86-84 Wednesday, Jan. 4, at John Vanderzicht Pool.

The Wildcats led 80-76 going into the 400-meter freestyle relay, but the Seagulls finished first and third to eke out the team win.

Bruce Vagt paced Oak Harbor with wins in the 200-meter freestyle (2:22.65) and 500 free (4:51.87), as well as in the 200 medley relay (2:03.76) with Kenneth Morrow, Enrique Perez and Andrew Franssen.

Morrow (50 free, 27.79) and Perez (100 free, 59.71) picked up individual wins, and Morrow, Perez, Franssen and Jose Cabigting took the 200-free relay (1:56.57).

Oak Harbor (1-3) competes at the Kentridge Invitational Saturday, Jan. 7, and then returns home for a 5:30 p.m. Wesco meet with Marysville Getchell (0-4) and Marysville-Pilchuck (0-4) Monday, Jan. 9.
