King’s put together late runs in each game to pull out a 3-0 win over the host Coupeville High School volleyball team Thursday, Sept. 15.

The Knights swept to a 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 win, but the sets were “neck-and-neck” until about the 12th point, according to coach Toni Crebbin.

King’s (2-0) is one of the strongest teams in the state regardless of classification.

Late in each game, a Knight server would “get on a roll,” Crebbin said, and the Wolves couldn’t recover.

Coupeville struggled generating offense, tallying only nine kills on the night.

However, its defense shined as the Wolves “dug up some hard hit balls against a strong front court,” Crebbin said. “Our hustle was amazing.”

Bessie Walstad recorded eight digs and three kills, Katie Smith had five digs and three kills and Madison Tisa-McPhee added four aces.

Coupeville (0-3) ferries to Friday Harbor Saturday, Sept. 17, for a 1 p.m. nonleague match.
