Rocklin, Calif., remained undefeated in pool play at the Junior Little League regional tournament in Laguna Niguel, Calif., by topping Central Whidbey 22-1 Friday.

Central Whidbey, winless in four tries in the tournament for 13- and 14-year-olds, concludes pool play today, Aug. 7, against the host club, Aliso Viejo, Calif., at 6:30 p.m. Aliso Viejo is 3-1 in the tournament; its only loss was a 1-0 nail-biter to Rocklin Wednesday.

Central Whidbey coach Chris Tumblin said the Rocklin team was physically imposing: “They are all bigger than me. It was like boys playing against men.”

Tumblin added that Rocklin was not only large in physical stature, but, obviously, talented ball players: “They are soooo good. During warm ups, the only time the ball hit the ground was when the coach hit it there; they were very impressive.”

Tumblin was also impressed with their attitude. He said, “They are a good group of boys, and the coaches were very respectful. They did not try to run up the score.”

For the second game in a row, Central Whidbey played good defense. It was Rocklin’s offense, and not CW mistakes, that produced the runs. Tumblin said, “They hit a lot of line drives.”

Central Whidbey’s offense was led by doubles from Jake Tumblin and Wade Schaef; Korbin Korzan and Aaron Trumbull singled; and Kurtis Smith added a stolen base
