Fueled by two home runs, the Meadowdale High School softball team zipped by visiting Oak Harbor 13-0 in five innings Tuesday, April 22.

“We played a good hitting team on a small field,” coach Todd Showalter said. “They only hit three balls hard all day, but two left the yard.”

Those two, a grand slam and a three-run shot, accounted for seven runs.

Oak Harbor center fielder Natalie Fiallos came within inches of robbing one of the home runs, according to Showalter.

The Mavericks (7-0, 9-2), who lead the Wesco South, finished with eight hits.

Oak Harbor was also hurt by yielding eight walks.

“Base on balls early in the innings bit us,” Showalter said.

Alexa Findley and Nathalie Gotz recorded singles for the Wildcats.

Oak Harbor (0-6, 1-11) plays Glacier Peak (4-2, 6-7) at home at 4 p.m. Friday, April 25.
