The Oak Harbor High School girls golf team improved its score by 14 points the second day of the Wesco 3A tournament at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club Tuesday, May 10, but the Wildcats couldn’t improve their position in the standings and finished fourth.
Glacier Peak won the eight-team tournament as the team standings saw no shift from the first-day rankings. The Grizzlies finished with 407 (191, 216) Stableford points, followed by Shorewood, 402 (189, 213);
Everett, 365 (177, 188); Oak Harbor, 360 (173, 187); Shorecrest, 331 (169, 162); Lynnwood, 321 (163, 158); Mountlake Terrace, 237 (111, 126); and Meadowdale, 209 (90, 119).
Cassie McKinley of Shorewood earned medalist honors with 133 (64, 69) points; Oak Harbor’s Annie Leete tied for fourth with 101 (45, 56).
Millie Goebel was next for Oak Harbor with 88 points, while Mara Cortez had 71, Sasha Olson 52, Bre Roderos 42 and Alyssa Siwa 24.
The eight Wesco 3A schools will join Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley and Ferndale of the Northwest Conference at the Northwest District meet Monday and Tuesday, May 16 and 17, at Everett’s Legion Memorial Golf Course at noon. The top 16 individuals will qualify for the state tournament.
