Four ’Cats named all-league

Two seniors and two juniors on the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team were named first and second-team WesCo North all-stars by a vote of opposing coaches.

Junior hitter Jennifer Jansen and senior setter Becca Wheeler were voted first team players, and hitters Clair Thiel, a senior, and Jessica Muzzall, a junior, were named to the second team.

Wheeler was a three-year starting player for the Wildcats and was the team leader in assists.

Jansen has come into her own in her junior year on the court and was a major force at the net both offensively and defensively during the season.

At 6-2, Thiel was also a big player on the front line. She has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Concordia in Portland next fall.

Muzzall is another of the Wildcats’ big players who is a powerful hitter. Her skills will only develop more during her senior year next season.

In 2007, Oak Harbor finished in third place in the WesCo North with a 6-2 league record and advanced to the district playoffs where the team lost to Edmonds-Woodway and Mountlake Terrace.
