Five North Whidbey Aquatic Club team records fell at the Age Group Sectional Championships March 18 to 20 in Federal Way.

The meet attracted the fastest age-group swimmers from seven western states: Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, Hawaii and Washington.

Ethan Tack set three of the NWAC records in the 10u 50 backstroke (31.92), 100 individual medley (69.08) and 200 IM (2:27.61). He won the latter two events, won the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly, earned high-point honors and was named NWAC Swimmer of the Meet.

Other team records were established by Taliah Black (girls 10u breaststroke, 80.19) and Emily Huffer (girls 14 200 backstroke, 2:08.60).

Other top three finishes were earned by Huffer (girls 11 200 IM), Tack (boys 10u 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke), Olivia Tungate (girls 10 100 fly) and Cole Weinstein (boys 15-up mile).

NWAC medalists (top eight) were Black, Emily Huffer, Kelly Huffer, Marissa Morris and Tack.

Weinstein met Pacific Northwest Swim and Western Zone Championship cuts in the boys 15-16 400 IM (4:28.03), and Tungate met a Zone cut in the girls 10u 50 fly (32.36)

Michael Johnson swam 100 percent personal bests.

The Aquajets next compete at the PNS Divisional Championships March 26 and 27 in Federal Way and will field a team of 16 athletes.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.

Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
