Everett jumps on Oak Harbor’s mistakes / Softball

Everett took advantage of a shaking Oak Harbor defense to defeat the host Wildcat softball team 19-3 in five innings Monday, April 15.

The Seagulls registered only eight hits, but Oak Harbor committed 10 errors and surrendered 15 unearned runs.

Everett (5-1, 9-3) scored four runs in the first inning and continued to add on every inning.

While the Seagull offense was piling up runs, Everett pitcher Andrea Hedington tossed a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Oak Harbor scored twice in the third inning. Maddy Tucker singled and scored on Cierra LeGendre’s triple. Courtesy runner Lizzy Domenget then scored on Kayla Crocker’s single.

The Wildcats’ other run came in the fifth inning when Miranda Wilson reached on an error and scored on LeGendre’s ground out.

Crocker finished with two hits, one a double. Wilson, Tucker and LeGendre recorded the only other hits for the Wildcats.

Oak Harbor (1-6, 3-10) entertains Stanwood (0-07, 0-13) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.
