Edmonds-Woodway tops Oak Harbor in four-team meet / Cross country

Oak Harbor boys take second and the girls finished fourth in cross country.

The Edmonds-Woodway boys and girls cross country teams both scored 23 points to defeat Oak Harbor and two other schools at Everett’s McCollum Park Thursday, Oct. 6.

The Shorewood boys and girls also recorded identical scores of 53. That was good enough for second in the girls race, ahead of host Mariner (67) and Oak Harbor (80).

The Wildcat boys tallied 47 to edge Shorewood for second. Mariner trailed with 108.

Oak Harbor’s Joseph Ralston (17:56.92) and Alexis Smith (20:39.69) each finished sixth in their respective races to lead the Wildcats.

The Wildcats head east to participate in the Leavenworth Invitational at noon Saturday, Oct. 8, and then begin postseason action with the Wesco 3A divisional meet Saturday, Oct. 22, at Lakewood High School.
