Eagles top Wildcats 4-1 / Baseball

Arlington remained among the leaders in a tight race for the Wesco North baseball lead by defeating host Oak Harbor 4-1 Thursday, April 6.

The Eagles raised their conference record to 7-2 (9-2 overall) to stay within percentage points of first-place Marysville-Pilchuck (5-1, 5-3) in the division standings.

Oak Harbor, on the other hand, fell to 0-8, 0-10.

The Wildcats host Stanwood (2-6, 2-8) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.

Arlington 4, Oak Harbor 1

The Eagles’ Owen Bishop proved to be too much for the Wildcats. The Arlington pitcher wasn’t over powering, recording only two strikeouts, but limited Oak Harbor to three hits. He also did some damage at the plate, stroking a double and driving in two runs.

Oak Harbor managed only one base runner, a walk to Steven Richards in the second inning, over the first four innings as the Eagles built a 2-0 lead.

Chad Spradlin doubled for the Wildcats in the fifth and Oak Harbor put runners at second and third but couldn’t cut into Arlington’s lead.

The Wildcats plated a run in the sixth. Dylan Bailey singled, stole second and scored on Trent Benson’s base hit.

Benson took the pitching loss but tossed a solid game for Oak Harbor, striking out four and giving up eight hits and three earned runs.
