Coupeville sweeps home meet / Track

The Coupeville High School track team pulled off a rare feat for the Wolves in a three-team home contest Monday, April 24. Both the Coupeville boys and girls won their respective meets.

The Wolves have produced many individual champions over the years but generally lacked the depth to win meets, most of which have been against larger schools.

Coupeville combined the thrill of running on its new track for the second time with its largest team ever and smaller-school opponents to dominate Friday Harbor and Lopez.

The Coupeville boys defeated Friday Harbor and Lopez 90-54-20, and the girls rolled past the Wolverines and Lobos 105.5-20.5-7.

In all, the Wolves won 25 of the 32 events and took the top two spots in 12.

Next up, Coupeville and North Mason will go to Port Townsend for a 3:15 p.m. meet Friday, April 28.
