The Coupeville High School soccer team lost more than its 2-0 match at Granite Falls Thursday, Oct. 24. The Wolves also lost defender Ivy Luvera to a concussion.

Luvera collided with the Tigers’ striker and was taken to Whidbey General. Coupeville coach Troy Cowan said Luvera was released early this morning and will miss Coupeville’s final two matches.

Cowan said, “Ivy was having an incredible match and was keeping Granite Falls’ best player in check and forcing the Tigers top get their offense from another source.”

Coupeville and Granite Falls battled through a scoreless tie in the first half, then the Tigers scored a controversial goal on an offsides no-call in the second period.

The Tigers put the match away with a late goal off a corner kick.

Cowan said, “I was very proud of the girls overall effort.”

Coupeville (1-11, 2-12) hosts King’s (11-2, 11-3) at 11 a.m. Saturday and then Granite Falls (4-8, 4-9-1) at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28.
